Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how JobYard handles personal data when people create or use a JobYard account, visit JobYard pages, receive a JobYard quote or invoice link, or have their information recorded by a trade business using JobYard.

For account administration, service operation, security and direct communications with JobYard users, the operator of JobYard acts as data controller.

For customer, job, property, equipment, service and invoice information entered by a trade business, that trade business normally decides why the information is held and how it is used. In that context, the trade business is normally the controller and JobYard processes the information to provide the service. Customers should contact the trade business first about information that business has entered about them.

Depending on how the service is used, this can include account email and authentication information; business name and contact details; team member names and roles; customer names, addresses, phone numbers and emails; job notes and schedules; quotes and invoices; VAT information; payment status and references; equipment make, model, serial number and service history; uploaded photographs and documents; service reports; notification subscription information; and technical/security information needed to operate the service.

JobYard does not store customer card numbers. Where Stripe is used, payment-card entry takes place on Stripe’s hosted payment service.

Information is processed to provide and secure accounts; create and display jobs, quotes and invoices; support customer quote acceptance; schedule and assign work; maintain equipment and service history; send requested browser push notifications; provide reports and exports; record payment status; prevent abuse; troubleshoot problems; and meet legal obligations.

Depending on the context, the legal basis may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where consent is required.

JobYard uses specialist providers to operate the service. Supabase provides database, authentication and file-storage infrastructure. Vercel provides application hosting and delivery. Stripe is used when a trade business chooses to connect online card payments. Browser/device push services may carry push notifications when a user enables them.

These providers process information under their own applicable terms and privacy arrangements. JobYard does not sell personal data to advertisers.

Technology providers may process or store information in more than one country. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA or UK, the relevant provider and JobYard are expected to use a lawful transfer mechanism where required, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards.

Quotes and invoices can be shared using private links. Anyone who obtains a valid link may be able to view the information presented on that page, so users should send links only to the intended recipient and avoid forwarding them unnecessarily.

JobYard uses technology necessary for authentication, session continuity, application installation and core functionality. JobYard does not currently operate third-party advertising cookies through the application. If non-essential analytics or marketing technologies are introduced, this policy and any consent controls will be updated as required.

Push notifications are optional. If enabled, JobYard stores a browser/device push subscription so operational notifications can be delivered, such as quote acceptance or work reminders. A user can disable notifications through their browser or device settings.

Account and business records are kept for as long as needed to provide the service and for a reasonable period afterwards where required for security, dispute handling, legal obligations or legitimate business records. Trade businesses are responsible for deciding appropriate retention periods for customer records they control. Some financial records may need to be retained by the business for statutory periods even after they are no longer operationally active.

JobYard uses account authentication, business-scoped database access controls, private storage for job and equipment files, and server-side handling for public quote/invoice access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Users should use a strong password, protect devices and promptly remove team members who should no longer have access.

Depending on the law that applies, individuals may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict personal data, object to certain processing, receive portable data, and complain to a supervisory authority. In Ireland, the supervisory authority is the Data Protection Commission. In the UK, it is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

For data entered by a trade business about its customer, requests should normally be directed to that trade business first. For JobYard account or platform data, contact us using the address below.

JobYard is a business service and is not directed to children. Users should not intentionally use JobYard to collect children’s personal data unless they have a lawful and necessary business reason to do so.

We may update this Policy to reflect product, provider or legal changes. The current version and effective date will always be published here. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
